Casa Bunicii Restaurant

For the Casa Bunicii restaurant, we wanted to create a slightly different concept from the group's already existing locations, but which would preserve and complement the essence of the brand. We sought to combine traditional elements with simpler, stylized lines to achieve a contemporary result.

about

We built the concept around two dominant elements: the traditional house from Banat and the hearth, the heart of the home. I exhibited them in a homogeneous, neutral setting, which would facilitate the discovery and reception of the story.

The entrance is through a high, double-height space, where the client makes contact with the first element, the traditional house. The bar is built as an extension of the plinth of the Banat facade, known for its curved lines, inspired by baroque architecture, and geometric and plant decorative elements. The hearth, the second important element, connects the ground floor area with the upstairs area and becomes a central piece, visible from all directions. It acquires several functions: it includes the staircase, constitutes an exhibition space through the many niches and shelves, and extends to the secondary access through a dining area. In the organic top I inserted cast iron plates, above which I hung a hood with a copper finish.

On the ground floor, on one side and on the other side of the hearth, we placed sofas and chairs. To maintain some symmetry with the central staircase, we decorated the full wall with antiqued mirrors and metal grillwork, inspired by the exterior facade of the building.
